Portugal has 9 more Michelin stars!

The world's most famous and influential food guide has just ascribed the star, to seven new restaurants, while another two reach the second star.
The prophecy of the duplication of stars for Portugal, which had so much hope and expectation created, was not fully fulfilled, but nevertheless, it is a fantastic and historical year for portuguese gastronomy.
Whether because the stars kept all the restaurants, or because, at one time, the list adds nine stars to the Portuguese panorama, that is, almost as many as the whole of the years so far.
There are seven new restaurants with Michelin star in Portugal and two more that reach the second. The novelty has just been announced in Girona, Catalonia, Spain, where the gala took place to present the new edition of the guide to the Iberian Peninsula, in a ceremony attended by all the top figures of Iberian cuisine.
The highlight is the Greater Porto, which more than doubles the number of stars: with the second for The Yeatmam, the continuation of Pedro Lemos and the news Boa Nova and Antiqvvm, the region goes from two to five stars. Also in Madeira the effect is identical, going from one to three, with the second from the Il Gallo d'Oro and the novelty of the neighbor William, who works in the historic Reid's Palace.

As for the chefs, it is worth mentioning the consecration of Rui Paula (Boa Nova) and Henrique Sá Pessoa (Alma), who tenaciously endured several years as a kind of "eternal" candidates. In Madeira, Luís Pestana sees his work recognized, with the star attributed to William, at the Hotel Reid's in Funchal.
Miguel Laffan shows that the outing of L'And Vineyards last year was just a hiatus, while the entry of Loco rewards the style very own and out of the box with which Alexandre Silva faces the creative kitchen. Vitor Matos ends up maintaining the status he already brought from Casa da Calçada, in Amarante, and adds with Antiqvvm another star on the banks of the Douro. Arola, who recently closed the restaurant with two stars in Madrid, now also wins one in Portugal.
With the two stars the jump is also spectacular. Five years ago it was just a restaurant and now there are already five, demonstration of the giant steps that have been given to the level of catering in Portugal. Ricardo Costa has had a brilliant career with The Yeatman and Benoît Sinthon also sees the extremely rigorous work that accompanies him at Il Galo D 'Oro. With José Avillez, Hans Neuner and Dieter Koschina are both now also in the great showcase of the "arts of the stoves".
In addition to all that was promised, and despite the weight and importance of the novelties, the guide and his inspectors end up confirming his profile of exigency and narrowness of criterion. No surprising or mismatched news with the line that over the years has characterized the choices.
In a year in which in the Algarve (where the largest number of stars remain concentrated) nothing stirs, this is also a novelty. Surprises and ruptures were also announced, but in this perspective, the news turned out to be the non-attribution of stars to Vista, on Praia da Rocha, and the restaurant of Herdade do Esporão. João Oliveira and Pedro Pena Bastos deserve it widely, but in the case of two young people, time is clearly in their favor.
