Portugal will double its Restaurants Michelin Stars

This assurance came from the director of external relations of the Michelin Guide.
In a meeting with journalists on Thursday, Ángel Pardo said that this will be "one bombastic year" to Portugal.
That Portugal would get new Michelin stars restaurants it was not difficult to predict.
Now, something unexpected - taking into account the secrecy usually associated with the subject - is that we now have official confirmation.
In a meeting with Spanish journalists, director of external relations and the commercial director of the Michelin Guide, respectively Ángel Pardo and Mayte Carreño, cited by El Diario, they assured a much better result than anyone had forecasted: Portugal will "double" the stars this year!!!
"2017 will be a great year for Spain and a bombastic year for Portugal", said Pardo to the Spanish journalists.
It's easy to do the maths: if Portugal has eleven restaurants with one star and three with two stars, it will easily surpass the two dozens of restaurants distinguished by Michelin, which was unthinkable a few years ago.
This despite not having been clear, from what Pardo and Carreño said, if such duplication was referring to the number of stars or the number of restaurants with a star.
Amid the good news, a less good: the hope for Ocean and Belcanto to reach the third star - the highest distinction Guide - will not be achieved: the same officials said that in Portugal, unlike Spain, there will be no new three Michelin stars.
Still, Carreño stressed that 2017 will be "a very good year for Portugal and Spain, the best in several years, very divided and the finding that high food not only plays out in already established destinations stars".
It now remains to be seen who will be contemplated.
But this, only on the 23rd of November.
We shall have to wait and see...
