Touriga Nacional is highlighted as the "Casta pedigree of Portugal" in the story of Roger Voss over four pages of the December issue of Wine Enthusiast. The article focuses on the highlight of the indigenous grape in Portugal and the relief that is having in the US, Australia, New Zealand and France. Quinta do Vale Meão 2012 Red wine is highlighted in the 4th position in the list, along with other Portuguese wines, including Prats & Symington LDA 2012 Chryseia (in 27th place), Estate of São Miguel in 2011 Private Collection (41), Luis Duarte 2012 Category (52) and Esporão 2010 Fifth of Murças Reservations (57), Wine & Soul Pintas 2012 Red Wine (68), Quinta da Foz 2011 Grand Reserve (77). In total there are seven Portuguese wines included in the Wine Enthusiast list, which has a circulation of 182,609 copies.
The aging capacity of Portuguese wines is highlighted in this list that concentrates the 100 best in the world in this category, considered valuable to the cellars of the patients wine lovers. "Top 100 Cellar Selections" groups the most expensive wines, mostly red wines with great aging potential, with a very high rating average (95.31 points) and an average price above $ 100.
Nuno Vale, marketing director of ViniPortugal says "The presence of Portuguese wines in the" Top 100 Cellar Selections "reflects the very positive development of Portuguese exports to the US market. Exports to the US grew 20.1% in value in the first nine months of the year (January-September 2015 vs. Jan-Sep 2014), a percentage that rises to 30.3% if the still wines are highlighted. The US is our 3rd export destination after France and Angola, 2 for still wines and 1 for wines with designation of origin. "
