Condé Nast Traveler again elects Portugal as the best country for travel

The poll was conducted online by readers of the magazine who chose Portugal for the combination of culture, gastronomy, "excellent" wines, beaches, golf courses, history and, mainly, by the Portuguese, "a people friendly, open and very sincere".
For the readers of the Spanish edition of the magazine, Portugal is considered a destination with an "impressive array" of landscapes.
The awards, in its 6th Edition, were delivered 24th of April at a ceremony held in the gardens of Cecilio Rodriguez, in the Retiro Park in Madrid.
After receiving the award, the President of Turismo de Portugal, João Cotrim de Figueiredo, highlighted the importance of the prize.
"This award reinforces the visibility of Portugal as a tourist destination of excellence in Spain, one of the leading international tourists market in 2013, that generated more than 3 million overnight stays and more than EUR 1 billion in revenue. Highlight yet, with pride, the fact that the unique qualities of the Portuguese in contact and receiving tourists, marking them for positive and motivating them to return, be one of the aspects valued and that greatly contributed to obtaining this prize", he said.
Portugal repeats so the distinction he received last year when it was also chosen as the best destination to visit, having overtaken some of the countries most visited by tourists in every continent.
