PORTO elected Best European Destination again in 2014
What better way to start 2014 for PORTO that with this fantastic news?!
Elected Best European Destination 2014 by the voting European Citizens who participated in this on-line award by the European Consumers Choice, international organization, based in Brussels and representing the largest platform for tourism in Europe.
Porto is the first city to be considered for the second time Best European Destination, having just been elected in 2012 for this important award, which guarantees great international visibility and world tours.
This year, the city competed with gale destinations such as Paris, London, Barcelona and Budapest, also nominated for the award.
PORTO, the "Cidade Invicta" (unvanquished city) is all about history, charm, architecture, culture, gastronomy, trade, wines, friendship and discovery.
PORTO has all the charm of towns which happily share their lives with their river. You can stroll along the River Douro ("the river of gold") in the Ribeira, fly over it by helicopter or discover PORTO‘s architecture, its amazing landscapes and magnificent bridges by taking a cruise on this majestic river.
PORTO is also a sea city and in the briefest of time a tram will bring you from the city center, to Foz do Douro’s gentle beaches face to face with the Atlantic Ocean.
