Port Wine - A Summer Cocktail of Fresh Ideas!
Forget the myth of Port being a winter drink and discover the thousand and one ways to taste this classic in summer time!
Port wine and food match well. We've already posted more than once, the great pleasure of having a great steak with a Vintage or LBV, or the enjoyment that gives you the marriage of a Tawny, which does not need to be too expensive, with a saw or cheese, or a sweeter Port to mary with a smelly cheese from Serra da Estrela, (the one that smells very badly but tastes so gooood), in which the salt of the cheese is left melting by the sugar of the wine.
And, of course, the famous linkage that has always been a good tawny or a harvest, with the Portuguese convent sweets, rich in eggs, almonds and sugar.
Yeah, heavy stuff, winter food, old stuff. Port wine is said not be good for the summer! Is it not?
And if we were to prove you that there are a thousand and one fresh drinks made with port wine, very fit for the summer, which can be enjoyed by the pool, a nightclub, a circle of friends or on a romantic tête-à-tête?
And even with the advantage of having much less alcoholic content than the similar made with distillates (gin, rum, rum, brandy, whisky, vodka, etc.).
From the now classic port tonic to more daring long drinks, you can use Port wine in various combinations.
Try for your self, and let us know about the many combinations possible that you've tried.
But always do drink these Port wines VERY cold, in every way possible, moreover in the summer...
